Fifth Casefile: Full Circle [Written/Action]

Hey, just a note to all witches, wizards, spellcasters, and magic users. I've already talked to a couple of you about this, but now I'm going to make it official- I'm starting up a magic group. The idea of the group is simple- anybody who wants to can come and talk about- and learn about- magic, and hopefully we can even get some sort of magically-oriented projects underway. So if you're a magic user and feel like sharing, or even if you're not and you're just curious, let me know what a good time is and how many people are interested. I'll try to set us up with a good meeting place.

After I sent out the message over the journals, I headed out to the library and pulled out a whole mess of magic books, then went to Good Spirits to go over them. Most of it was crap, but who knows what kinds of decent magical information and rituals from other worlds might turn up in here?

Sure, absolutely. First of all, I'm not even excluding totally nonmagical people, but second of all, Filial magic is worth looking at as well.

I was... not a fan of the Filial spirits- they reminded me a little too much of the Fae, back home- but as far as I knew, their peculiar brand of magic was the only kind everybody in the village had access to, and I'm all in favor of that.

[ Helios is in his usual haunt. The Library, filing books and the like. He'll notice Harry and the pile of magic books he's taken out. Piquing his interests he'll walk over to the other man with a small smile. ]

Doing a bit of research for the magic club?

"Afternoon, Helios." I gave him a brief nod of the head, setting down the books on a nearby table and turning to face him.

"Yeah, I've browsed this stuff a couple times before, but I figure it'll be good to have textbooks on hand in case anybody specifically wants to demonstrate something. Plus, research never hurt anybody."

I would be curious to meet and compare or discuss magic, though I do not believe we've met. I think its a fantastic idea, as there is such a wide variety here.

And the variety is part of what I find interesting- no knowing how my magic might interact with some other world's magic, or what we could accomplish if we combined the two.

He'd seen the filter but he hadn't been able to crack it. It left him with a bitter curiousity in the back of his throat. Harry was a mate, weren't he? So why was he hiding things? Or...mayhaps Sharpe shouldn't mind at all. A man was allowed his secrets.

Still -- perhaps he ought to be more careful.

All the same, when Harry stepped into the bar? Sharpe raised a warm, one-handed greeting.

As soon as I saw him, I felt a stab of guilt, but I forced it aside, setting my books down and shrugging off my duster to drape over them, then went over to greet him.

"Hey, Richard. How's it going?"

What makes something magic? I've been wondering this for a while.

Well, it seems to vary from world to world. I guess I'd describe it as anything with fantastic effects that defy the science that governs that world.

Soon as I saw Molly heading over, I started clearing books and notes from a chair for her.

"Hey. It's actually going pretty good, I have a nice little list of names."

I gestured with the list, partly to demonstrate and partly because I didn't have any good place to set it- as it was, there was barely enough of a clear space for Molly to set her drink.

"So far, all I've got is that it should be on a Saturday. Leaves the rest of the planning up to me, I guess."

I would certainly be interested in attending. It will be interesting to see if there are any commonalities between different universes' forms of magic, and if there is any way to combine them.
