[Written- Filtered from Richard Sharpe, 5% (Apparently he hasn't learned a lot in the last couple months) ]

Hey, just a note to all witches, wizards, spellcasters, and magic users. I've already talked to a couple of you about this, but now I'm going to make it official- I'm starting up a magic group. The idea of the group is simple- anybody who wants to can come and talk about- and learn about- magic, and hopefully we can even get some sort of magically-oriented projects underway. So if you're a magic user and feel like sharing, or even if you're not and you're just curious, let me know what a good time is and how many people are interested. I'll try to set us up with a good meeting place.

After I sent out the message over the journals, I headed out to the library and pulled out a whole mess of magic books, then went to Good Spirits to go over them. Most of it was crap, but who knows what kinds of decent magical information and rituals from other worlds might turn up in here?

It would be...interesting to see at least. The only time I've ever saw a flying ship was on that one draft. [ Not the most pleasant of memories to be sure. ] I also w-wanted to try and fortify the village with, with barriers and like. At the town meeting such things came up. It's...a matter of keeping them up that's the tricky part.

[ A pause as he thinks on it more before he smiles and shrugs a little. That part can wait. Complying and combining magic like that would be harder than a simple project at least. ]

Did you have any projects you'd like to do?

"Ah, my only project sort of died in the water. Artificially recreating magical currents that occur in my world. The benefits didn't outweigh the concerns about safety."

Magical currents? That sounds rather fascinating though. I wonder how you implement that sort of thing here. I-I mean I don't know if this place has anything like that per say, but the filial spirits use some type of power and energy source. [ It's interesting to think about where magic in this world comes from. Helios has thought about it before but the lack of details has always made it just a guessing game or a hypothetical answer. ]

"Well, if they do, it's nothing I can feel or manipulate. All I can pull from this place is the latent emotional energy of the village. Luckily, the Malnosso seem keen on making sure there's a lot of emotion in the village on a regular basis, so I'm not likely to run out any time soon."

It's... possible that the last couple of sentences came out harsh and irritable.

Ah. L-Latent emotional... [ oh good lord you're an empathy?! Helios didn't even realize! He might look away and flinch a little at the harsher tone Harry has. He can only imagine. ] Y-Yes the, um, M-Malnosso seem rather good at that don't they?

[ A pause as he shifts where he is. ] Y-You're something akin to someone who uses empathic capabilities then?

"Huh? No, no, no. I'm not a Betazoid or anything. No mood rings for me- not of the magical kind, at least. I'm pretty good at reading people the old-fashioned way, but that's not really the same.

No, mostly I just sense the overall energy. It doesn't change, much; it's a sort of tension, a sort of longing. A facade of peace over an undercurrent of mixed emotions, mostly frustration or despair. It's all over the village. Easier out in the woods- there's real life out there. It doesn't seem to care that it's been misplaced, it's just growing and thriving, happy as you please. But the village is full of 'I don't want to be here,' and that's what I can feel, mostly. What I draw on."

O-Oh, ah, I-I see. That's rather intriguing actually. I-I mean it...it must be hard for you though. E-Especially...especially with shifts and experiments. [ Helios is vaguely aware now that he must be giving off several mixed feelings of loneliness, pain, among other myriad of things himself. It makes him look at the other man apologetically and slightly awkwardly too. ]

S-So you can even sense it from trees and animals too then?

"Nah... I sense it in the atmosphere itself. Can't pick out individual things or people, I'm not sensitive enough.

Some people are. Molly, my apprentice? She probably could, if she wanted to."

There's probably specifics for learning and having such a gift I'd imagine. [ Helios has met a few before but never something like Harry or Molly. Then again the principles in his word were possibly different than his own. ]

I've, ah, s-spoken a few times with Molly. She's rather nice, but you're her teacher then? [ Hm. Interesting. ]

"She'd be my Padawan, yep."

I grinned a little. Molly was a good kid, I was proud to be her teacher. Sometimes it made me a little dorky.

[ Helios actually understands that reference! He smiles and chuckles lightly. ] You must be proud of her. [ Or, well, it sounds like he is and Helios can see that. ]

E-Especially if she's extremely good at something like this, which seems like its a hard thing to learn. B-But having a good teacher always helps.

"She's a good kid. She really developed a lot of skill by herself, before I found her. Mostly, my lessons have been more... philosophy, than anything else. Teaching her when and why to use magic is more important than how, though I cover that, too."

It's just that if she slipped up, she'd die, and me with her. Obviously, neither of us wanted that. And since the majority of the White Council thought we both should have been killed the first time we each screwed up, and were just looking for a chance to rectify the error? That meant we both had to be really damn careful.
