Well, sure, I was just sitting on the roof. I mean, hey, it was a bit chilly, but I'm used to that. And I wasn't sure where I was, but hell, that's hardly any change.

The fact that I couldn't figure out how to get down was entirely irrelevant. I assure you. So there I sat, on the roof, scribbling in my journal.

The wings, it seems, didn't come off. Damn near fell off the roof figuring that out. They still throbbed.

The journal was an interesting thing, actually. It had my name on it. Apparently it updated to represent the journals other people used? I'd tried to look at it through the Sight. Luckily, the freezing cold was doing wonders staving off that headache.

I looked over the side again. Considered trying to climb. But, well, it was a rather tall building, and there weren't many handholds within reach. No. No, better to find some other method. So I'll just keep writing in that journal.

Hey. Don't know if there's some sort of etiquette to this... journal thing, or whatever it's called, but I have a question.

Where the hell am I, why do I have wings, and how did I get on top of this building without any clothing?

I don't think I was that drunk last night...

Well, there's a barracks near the apartment building I live in, so that kinda counts...?

I was mostly thinking out loud. Do you see anything that looks like a landmark or something? Big buildings? A fountain?

"There's a fountain off past a couple other buildings, and a river a short distance behind me."

...That puts you near the town square then. Hang on--I'll be out soon.

If you see a guy with a red jacket running passed, that's probably me. Lupin III.

"I'll keep an eye out. Harry Dresden. The first."

Ha ha~ That was so cute my grandfather is rolling in his grave!

[He says this, but he's throwing on his jacket and grabbing some supplies--namely a blanket and a simpistic grappling hook. He's tested it scaling the walls of CH 5 to sneak into Fujiko's room. It seems to work, at least for his lanky form.

It'll be a bit before Lupin gets over to the square. It's not a short walk, and he's starting to get himself rolling again after a debacle early last month.]

I stood with my journal in my hands, looking out over the square, waiting for a red jacket to appear. It took a while, but there it was, finally. I lifted the journal.

"I see you. Turn left. I'm the really tall guy on the roof."

[Lupin follows the directions and waves when he catches sight.]

I see ya now. Hang on.

[He jogs over, grappling hook and attached rope ready in hand.] You'll want to stand back Dresden.

[Without explanation of his action or warning, he throws the hook at the nearest possible latch up on the roof.]

In my line of work, you learn a couple things. You learn that people aren't to be trusted, even if they seem like they are. You learn that people aren't to be assumed guilty, especially if they seem like they are. You learn how to spot liars, you learn how to work spells, you learn how to make contacts and dig up information.

And by god, you learn that when somebody tells you to duck, get down, jump, turn around, or stand back, you damn well do it.

I stood the ell back. And there was a grappling hook.

... I may have laughed a little. I'm sorry, it was just funny.

Hopefully he couldn't hear it down there. I poked my head over the side.

"Will this thing hold my weight?"

It should--I tested it on an eight story building! You can just make sure it's properly tied and rapel down.

[Lupin's confident in his equipment this time--there's no reason it should fail. Besides, killing a New Feather was the last thing on his agenda.]

I made sure the grapple was secure, gave it a few sharp tugs- it held- and then began lowering myself cautiously down the line. No way in hell was I going to try rappelling.

[Lupin awaits, blanked ready for when Dresden is standing on solid ground. If he's surprised at his height, he doesn't show it. Though, admittedly, Dresden is taller than the talles guy in Luceti that he calls friend, Captain Smoker.]

When I reached the bottom, I glanced up behind me and frowned.

"How do you plan on getting that down?"

I plan to come back in the dead of night, shimmy on up there, and steal a hang glider from my girlfriend to get down.

[He's smiling, all confidence.]

I think I liked this guy.

"Well, Lupin- Is that what I call you? Lupin? -it seems I owe you one."

Nah--you owe me nothing! I was just doing my good deed for the day.

Anyway, have any questions? Frustrations?

...want to find your clothing?

"Clothing would be good. Didn't want to bother you again, considering..."

I waved my good hand at the roof.

"Apparently my stuff is in the Shops, wherever those are?"

...I was doing my good deed of the day. [And helping Pops--wait.] But yeah, your stuff will be in the shops for sure. Since we're in the town square here, they'll actually be in this general vicinity.

You sure you got it?

"Town square- down by the fountains? Yeah, I think I can take it from here. Thanks."
